Poll Everywhere

www.polleverywhere.com

My top site for this week is Poll Everywhere, which allows you to send your students a question via email and allows for instant feedback. I posted a question as a trial; " Is grilling a better way to cook than stewing", I then asked students to respond the question.

An example of an open ended question

An example of a multiple choice style question
 Positives about this site
1. It is isntant to create (2minutes to make the poll)
2. Allows for insant feedback
3. Allows the students to be annonymous so the quieter students can have a voice
4. Looks fun and engages the whole class!

Cramberry.net

I love cramberry.net, an amazing online tool to help students study for exams and remember definitions.
Easy to use and best of all the students can download the free app on their iPhones and study while they are on the bus or walking home.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions about how to use it ! :)

Using google Docs

Today I used google docs and have discovered that it is a great  tool to use in and outside the classroom. It is engaging, student centered and also very fun for the students. As for the teacher it took 2 minutes to put it together and the rest of time you can sit back and look at how the students are collaborating and applying their knowledge.
How I used it....
There are many smaller topics in this one unit that I am currently finishing with my class. Using google docs/ presentation  I simply labelled each page with the title of each sub topic. Then students went off in their pairs and answered the questions on their pages. The best thing about this is that I can monitor and see what each student is typing without even being in the room. However I was in the room, but you can move the lesson outside or in any space.
